Delta Delta C2000 Plus Modbus RTU template

Delta C2000 Plus

Vector control drive for pumps, fans and machines with full status and parameter access.

The Delta C2000 Plus is a vector control drive that runs induction, PM and SynRM motors for pumps, fans, compressors and machines. This Modbus RTU template reads frequency, current, voltage, power, torque, temperatures and fault codes, and lets you start, stop, set the speed and change every drive parameter from ModbusCloud.

Send your device list

If a device is not in the library yet, we build the template for free as soon as we have the register data.

Use cases

  • Show output frequency, current and power of every drive on a ModbusCloud dashboard.
  • Send an email when the fault code is not 0, so you know a drive has tripped.
  • Track IGBT temperature and DC bus voltage in the history to spot cooling or supply problems.
  • Change the frequency command or a PID setpoint remotely from ModbusCloud.
  • Compare kWh and motor speed over months to see how a pump or fan is used.

Installation

  1. Connect SG+ and SG- of the RS-485 port to A and B on the ModbusCloud Gateway and terminate the end of the bus.

  2. Set Pr.09-00 to the Modbus address, Pr.09-01 to the speed and Pr.09-04 to 13 (RTU 8N2) or another RTU format.

  3. Set Pr.09-30 to 0, and Pr.00-21 to 2 and Pr.00-20 to 1 if ModbusCloud should start the drive and set the speed.

  4. In ModbusCloud, add a Modbus device with the same address and serial settings and import this template.

  5. Check that output frequency and drive status come in before writing commands.

Things to watch for

The drive does not answer at all. What should I check?

The factory protocol of Pr.09-04 is ASCII, which a Modbus RTU master cannot read. Set Pr.09-04 to an RTU format such as 13 (8N2) and match speed and address with Pr.09-01 and Pr.09-00. Then check that SG+ and SG- are not swapped and that the bus is terminated.

Writing the operation command or frequency does nothing.

Pr.09-30 must be 0 so the drive accepts commands on 2000H to 2002H; the factory setting 1 uses another address range. The command source must be RS-485 (Pr.00-21 = 2) and the frequency source RS-485 (Pr.00-20 = 1), otherwise the drive ignores bus commands.

Why is the current value off by a factor of ten?

On large drives the number of decimals of the output current changes with the model; the high byte of 211FH tells which. Check the reading against the keypad and adjust the scale of that register if needed.

Is it safe to write drive parameters from ModbusCloud?

Each write changes the drive right away and is stored in its memory. Read the parameter first, change only what you understand, and avoid motor data and protection settings while the motor runs. Some parameters can only be changed when the drive is stopped.
