Delta Delta MS300 Modbus RTU template

Delta MS300

Compact drive: frequency, current, voltage, power and faults, with start, stop and frequency over RS-485.

The Delta MS300 is a compact frequency converter for fans, pumps, conveyors and small machines. This Modbus RTU template reads frequency, current, voltage, power, temperatures and fault codes, and lets you start, stop and set the frequency and drive parameters from ModbusCloud.

If a device is not in the library yet, we build the template for free as soon as we have the register data.

Number of installations (optional)

Use cases

  • Show output frequency, current and motor speed of every drive on one ModbusCloud dashboard.
  • Send an email alert when the error code is no longer 0, so a tripped fan or pump stands out at once.
  • Track IGBT temperature and DC bus voltage over time to find drives in a hot or unstable cabinet.
  • Start, stop or change the frequency command from the portal during commissioning.
  • Adjust acceleration and deceleration times or frequency limits remotely.

Installation

  1. Connect the RS-485 terminals of the MS300 to the RS-485 port of the ModbusCloud Gateway and terminate the bus at the last drive.

  2. Set Pr. 09-04 to an RTU format, for example 12 (8N1 RTU), and set the address in Pr. 09-00 and the speed in Pr. 09-01.

  3. For control over the bus, set Pr. 09-30 to 0 and Pr. 00-20 and 00-21 to RS-485 communication.

  4. In ModbusCloud, add a Modbus RTU device on the Gateway with the same address and serial settings and import this template.

  5. Check that output frequency and DC bus voltage come in with sensible values.

Things to watch for

The drive does not answer on the bus. What should I check?

From the factory Pr. 09-04 selects an ASCII format, so a Modbus RTU master gets no answer. Set Pr. 09-04 to an RTU format such as 12 (8N1) and match address and speed (Pr. 09-00, 09-01).

I write the command register but the motor does not start. Why?

The command registers at 2000H only work with Pr. 09-30 = 0 and with Pr. 00-21 set to RS-485 communication. Check also that no error code is active.

The current value looks ten times too small. Why?

On larger drives the current is shown with one decimal instead of two. The number of decimals is in the high byte of register 211FH.
