Installation

1. 1Connect the PCE EV11.3 to the local network and verify that Modbus TCP is reachable on its configured IP address and port.
2. 2If automatic 1P/3P phase switching is required, activate the designated DIP switch on the internal circuit board of the wallbox before closing the enclosure.
3. 3Wire the ModbusCloud gateway (MCG or MLP series) to the same local network as the wallbox, ensuring both devices can communicate over TCP.
4. 4Import the PCE EV11.3 template in the ModbusCloud platform and assign the correct IP address and Modbus unit ID to the device.
5. 5Verify communication by checking live register values for charging state, current, and temperature on the ModbusCloud dashboard.
6. 6Configure desired polling intervals and set up alerts or control actions as needed for your project.

Things to watch for

The phase autoswitch status always shows fixed mode. How do I enable automatic 1P/3P switching?

You must activate the designated DIP switch on the internal circuit board of the PCE EV11.3. Without this physical switch enabled, the wallbox will not perform automatic phase switching and remains in fixed phase mode.

I cannot reach the wallbox over Modbus TCP. What should I check?

Confirm the wallbox is connected to the local network and that the IP address and TCP port match the settings in ModbusCloud. Check that no firewall or VLAN isolation is blocking communication between the gateway and the wallbox.

Charging current setpoint does not seem to take effect. What could be wrong?

Ensure that the wallbox is in a state that accepts remote setpoints, for example not in an error state or mid-session lockout. Also verify that the Modbus unit ID and register addresses match the official PCE EV11.3 register map.

Temperature readings seem unusually high. Is this normal?

The temperature register reflects the internal temperature of the wallbox electronics, not ambient temperature. High values can occur during prolonged high-power charging sessions. If values exceed the manufacturer's specification, inspect ventilation and mounting conditions.
