Senergy Hybrid Inverter (battery)

Installation

1. 1Enable Modbus TCP on the Senergy Hybrid Inverter by navigating to the communication or network settings in the inverter's web interface and confirming that the Modbus TCP server is active on port 502.
2. 2Connect the inverter to the same local network as the ModbusCloud Gateway using a standard Ethernet cable, and note the inverter's assigned IP address.
3. 3In the ModbusCloud portal, add a new device, import the Senergy Hybrid Inverter (battery) template, and enter the inverter's IP address and Modbus unit ID (typically 1).
4. 4Spot-check the connection by confirming that the soc register at address 8192 returns a plausible percentage value in the portal's live data view.

Things to watch for

Why does the soc register return zero or no value?

Confirm that the Modbus TCP server is enabled in the inverter's communication settings and that port 502 is not blocked by a firewall or router. If the inverter has recently powered on, allow a full boot cycle before polling, as some firmware versions delay Modbus availability by up to 60 seconds.

The gateway connects but power reads as a large unexpected number. What is wrong?

The power register at address 8201 is a signed int32 spanning two consecutive 16-bit registers. Verify that your Modbus master reads both registers together and interprets them as a 32-bit signed integer. Byte-swapped reads will produce garbage values. Confirm the data type is set to int32 in the template, not int16.

No values appear after importing the template. What should I check first?

Check that the unit ID configured in the portal matches the Modbus slave address set on the inverter, which is typically 1 but may have been changed during commissioning. Also confirm the inverter's IP address has not changed due to a DHCP lease renewal. Assigning a static IP or a DHCP reservation is recommended.

Is it safe to write to the batterymode registers without additional precautions?

Use the batterymode write registers (addresses 8448, 8449, 8450, 8451, 8524) with care. Writing unsupported values or switching modes during active charge or discharge cycles can interrupt operation or trigger protection responses. Always verify the permitted values in the Senergy documentation before writing, and test changes during low-load periods.
