Verify the MAX.STORAGE is reachable on your LAN by pinging its IP from another device. Confirm Modbus TCP is enabled in the device web interface. Check that no firewall or VLAN rule is blocking port 502 between the ModbusCloud Gateway and the MAX.STORAGE.

The energy register value looks unexpectedly large or negative. What is wrong?

The energy register is a signed 32-bit integer. If cumulative energy has wrapped around the int32 boundary, or if the device was reset without clearing the register, you may see a large or negative value. Cross-check against the device's own web UI display to confirm the raw counter value.

Readings appear but values are inconsistent between polls. What causes this?

The MAX.STORAGE Modbus TCP interface can be sensitive to polling frequency. Avoid polling intervals shorter than two seconds. Also confirm the ModbusCloud Gateway unit ID matches the Modbus slave ID configured on the MAX.STORAGE, as a mismatch can cause intermittent null or stale responses.
