Atmoce Atmoce AC Battery and Module-Inverter Modbus RTU template

Atmoce AC Battery and Module-Inverter

Controls and monitors Atmoce module-inverters and AC coupled batteries via Modbus RTU.

This template provides full read and write access to Atmoce module-inverters and AC coupled batteries over Modbus RTU. It covers PV output, grid power, battery state of charge, energy counters, and active control of charging and discharging modes.

Number of installations (optional)

Use cases

  • Monitor real-time PV power output and battery state of charge on a cloud dashboard for each customer site.
  • Create alerts when energy storage SOC drops below a defined threshold during peak tariff hours.
  • Remotely configure forced charging schedules to take advantage of low electricity rates overnight.
  • Track cumulative PV generation over time to verify system performance against design expectations.
  • Regulate active power output remotely to comply with grid feed-in limitations set by the utility.
  • Manage multiple Atmoce inverter and battery systems across different sites from a single platform.

Installation

  1. Connect the Modbus RTU wiring (A and B terminals) from the Atmoce module-inverter to the RS485 port on your ModbusCloud Gateway.

  2. Configure the Modbus RTU settings on the gateway to 19200 baud rate with odd parity (parity 1) and set the correct slave address matching the inverter configuration.

  3. Verify that Modbus RTU communication is enabled on the Atmoce inverter, checking the device manual for the relevant setting menu.

  4. Import the Atmoce AC Battery and Module-Inverter template from the ModbusCloud template library into your project.

  5. Confirm that register data is arriving correctly by checking live values in the ModbusCloud dashboard, paying attention to uint32 and int32 register alignment starting at address 60027.

  6. Test write functionality by sending a minor control command, such as adjusting the active power percentage, and verifying the inverter responds as expected.

Things to watch for

Why am I reading incorrect or zero values for PV power and grid power?

Registers use uint32 and int32 data types spanning two consecutive addresses starting at 60027. Ensure your gateway is configured for 32-bit register reads with the correct byte and word order. A mismatch will produce zero or nonsensical values.

The gateway cannot establish communication with the Atmoce inverter. What should I check?

Verify that the baud rate is set to 19200 and parity is set to odd (1 stop bit). Also confirm the RS485 A and B wiring is not swapped and that the correct Modbus slave address is configured on both the inverter and the gateway.

Can I read and write the forced charge and discharge registers at the same time?

Yes, several registers including forced charge/discharge mode, target SOC, and duration are both readable and writable. You can read current settings and update them remotely through the ModbusCloud platform.

Do I need a specific firmware version on the Atmoce inverter for Modbus RTU support?

Consult the Atmoce product documentation or contact their support to confirm that your inverter firmware supports the Modbus RTU register map used by this template. Older firmware versions may not expose all registers.
