Installation

1. 1Install the GoodWe LAN module or WiFi+LAN module in the inverter's communication port, replacing the default WiFi dongle, and confirm ARM firmware is version 13 or higher for HV battery models.
2. 2Connect the LAN module to your local network via a switch or router, then assign a static IP address to the inverter through your router's DHCP reservation to prevent address changes after a power cycle.
3. 3In the ModbusCloud portal, add the ModbusCloud Gateway to the same network segment, import the GoodWe ET/EH/BH/BT Hybrid Inverter (grid) template, and set the unit ID to 247 (the GoodWe factory default) and port to 502.
4. 4Spot-check register 36025 in the live data view against the inverter's own display or the SEMS portal to confirm the total active power reading is consistent before saving the configuration.

Things to watch for

The gateway connects but all grid registers return zero or no data.

The inverter must be powered by DC (PV) or AC (grid) before Modbus communication becomes active. If the inverter is in standby with no power source it will not respond to queries. Confirm the LAN module is installed and that ARM firmware meets the minimum version requirement (13 for HV, 15 for LV).

Per-phase power values look correct but total power at 36025 is wrong.

Register 36025 is a signed 32-bit value spanning two consecutive 16-bit Modbus words. If your polling tool reads only one word you will get a truncated result. Ensure your Modbus client reads two registers starting at 36025 using function code 3, with high word first and low word second.

The portal loses connection to the inverter every few hours.

GoodWe recommends assigning a static IP to the LAN module via DHCP reservation. A dynamic address can change after a power cycle or DHCP lease renewal, causing the Gateway to lose the target. Also keep polling intervals at 10 seconds or longer to avoid overwhelming the inverter's communication stack.

Energy at register 36017 does not match the utility meter reading.

Register 36017 is the inverter's internal meter total import counter (float, kWh) and only starts accumulating from the date of commissioning. It also tracks import only, not export. Discrepancies against a utility meter are expected if energy was consumed before the inverter was installed or if the utility meter measures export differently.
