Installation

1. 1Connect the Nilan Compact P to the local network and verify that its Modbus TCP interface is enabled in the CTS700 controller settings.
2. 2Note the IP address and Modbus TCP port (default 502) configured on the Compact P unit.
3. 3Wire or connect the ModbusCloud gateway (MCG or MLP series) to the same local network as the Nilan unit.
4. 4In the ModbusCloud portal, add a new device and select the Nilan Compact P template from the template library.
5. 5Enter the IP address and port of the Compact P in the device connection settings and confirm the Modbus unit ID matches the unit configuration.
6. 6Verify that live data appears on the dashboard by checking a few key readings such as outdoor temperature and fan speed.

What Modbus unit ID should I use for the Nilan Compact P?

The default Modbus unit ID is typically 1, but this can be changed in the CTS700 controller menu. Verify the configured unit ID on the display panel or in the Nilan service tool before setting up the template.

Why are temperature values showing as raw integers instead of degrees?

Temperature registers are int16 values in degrees Celsius with a scaling factor of 1. If you see values that look 10 or 100 times too large, check whether your gateway is applying an additional scaling factor. The template is preconfigured with the correct scaling.

What does the filter register value in days represent?

The filter registers report the number of days since the last filter change and the configured limit in days. When the elapsed days reach or exceed the limit, a filter replacement is due.

Which firmware or specification version is this template based on?

The template is based on the CTS700 Modbus specification document dated April 2018. Ensure your Compact P controller firmware is compatible with this specification. Older firmware versions may not expose all registers.
