Samsung Samsung AC Control Modbus RTU template

Samsung AC Control

Controls Samsung AC units via Modbus RTU interface module.

This template controls and monitors Samsung air conditioning units via Modbus RTU through the MIM-B19N or MIM-B19NT Modbus Interface Module. It reads room temperature, operating mode, fan speed, filter status, and discharge temperature, while allowing control of AC state, mode, fan speed, and airflow direction.

Use cases

  • Monitor room temperature and AC operating mode on a live cloud dashboard for each indoor unit.
  • Create an alert when the filter cleaning reminder activates so maintenance can be scheduled promptly.
  • Control AC state and mode remotely to enable demand-based heating or cooling depending on occupancy.
  • Log discharge temperature trends over time to detect performance degradation in cooling or heating cycles.
  • Coordinate AC operation with a PV system by adjusting setpoints based on available solar production.
  • Set up notifications when actual room temperature deviates from target temperature by more than a defined threshold.

Installation

  1. Confirm compatibility of the MIM-B19N or MIM-B19NT with your Samsung indoor unit by checking the type label and consulting your Samsung partner.

  2. Install the MIM-B19N or MIM-B19NT interface module according to Samsung installation instructions and connect it to the indoor unit bus.

  3. Enable each indoor unit to accept external control requests using the unit remote control before proceeding.

  4. Wire the Modbus RTU connection (A, B, GND) from the interface module to the RS-485 port on the ModbusCloud Gateway.

  5. Set the Modbus slave address on the interface module, noting that in multi-split systems each indoor unit requires a unique address.

  6. Import the Samsung AC Control template in the ModbusCloud platform, assign the correct slave address, and verify communication at 9600 baud with even parity.

Things to watch for

Communication fails after wiring the gateway to the MIM-B19N module. What should I check?

Verify that the baud rate is set to 9600 and parity is configured as even (1 stop bit). Also confirm the A and B lines are not swapped and that a proper GND reference is connected.

I can read sensor values but cannot control the AC unit. What is wrong?

The indoor unit must be enabled to accept external requests via its remote control before Modbus write commands will work. Check the Samsung documentation for the exact procedure on your model.

How do I address multiple indoor units on a DVM-S or FJM multi-split system?

Each indoor unit connected through the interface module requires a unique Modbus slave address. Different addresses use different register maps, so configure a separate device instance in ModbusCloud for each unit.

Where can I find the latest Modbus register documentation for the MIM-B19N/MIM-B19NT?

Samsung does not maintain a central international download area for AC control documentation. Contact your local Samsung partner or distributor to obtain the latest version of the register map and installation guide.
