Control Samsung heat pumps via Modbus RTU interface module
This template lets you monitor and control Samsung heat pumps over Modbus RTU through the MIM-B19N or MIM-B19NT interface module. It reads supply flow, back flow, hot water and outside temperatures, and allows you to set target temperatures, operating modes, and on/off states.

If a device is not in the library yet, we build the template for free as soon as we have the register data.
Use cases
- Monitor supply flow and return flow temperatures on a live cloud dashboard to verify heat pump efficiency.
- Set hot water target temperatures remotely when occupancy patterns change throughout the week.
- Create an alert when outside temperature drops below a threshold and the heat pump fails to activate.
- Track water flow rate and backup heater usage over time to identify potential maintenance needs.
- Adjust heating circuit setpoints based on photovoltaic surplus to maximize self-consumption of solar energy.
- Log operating hours and cycle counts to plan preventive maintenance and reduce unnecessary wear.
Installation
Verify that your Samsung heat pump model is compatible with the MIM-B19N or MIM-B19NT module by checking the type label on the unit.
Install the MIM-B19N or MIM-B19NT interface module according to Samsung's wiring instructions and connect the Modbus RTU A and B lines to the ModbusCloud Gateway.
Configure the Modbus RTU settings on the gateway to 9600 baud, even parity, and set the correct slave address matching the interface module.
Import the Samsung Heating and Cooling template from the ModbusCloud template library into your project.
Verify communication by checking that live values such as supply flow temperature and heat pump state appear on the ModbusCloud dashboard.
Review registers in the 6000 to 7007 range and adjust Modbus slave ID mappings for additional sensor readings if needed.
Things to watch for
Which parity setting should I use for the Samsung MIM-B19N module?
Set the parity to even (1) at 9600 baud. This matches the default configuration of the MIM-B19N and MIM-B19NT modules. A mismatch will cause communication timeouts.
What are the registers in the 6000 to 7007 range used for?
These registers are used to configure Modbus slave IDs for various sensor readings. They do not directly control heat pump functions. Set them correctly to ensure sensor values are mapped to the right data points.
My heat pump shows online but write commands have no effect. What should I check?
Confirm that the MIM-B19N or MIM-B19NT firmware is up to date. Also verify that the heat pump is not locked to local control only. Some Samsung models require enabling external control through the unit's service menu.
Can I use this template with Modbus TCP instead of RTU?
The Samsung MIM-B19N and MIM-B19NT modules communicate via Modbus RTU only. If your gateway supports RTU to TCP conversion, the template will still work, but the physical connection to the module must be serial RS-485.
