Schwörer fresh-air heater
Monitors and controls Schwörer fresh-air heater ventilation systems via Modbus RTU.
Modbus RTU template for the Schwörer fresh-air heater. Reads operating mode, air levels, temperatures, filter status, and error messages. Allows control of ventilation mode, target temperature, heating/cooling pump, and error reset.

If a device is not in the library yet, we build the template for free as soon as we have the register data.
Use cases
- Monitor operating mode, air level, and target temperature on a live cloud dashboard for each building.
- Create an alert when the filter dirty flag activates so you can schedule a replacement visit.
- Remotely reset error codes to restore ventilation without dispatching a technician.
- Track remaining filter lifetime and device operation hours to plan preventive maintenance.
- Adjust target room temperature and heating or cooling mode remotely during seasonal transitions.
- Detect emergency mode activation and send instant notifications to the responsible installer.
Installation
Connect the ModbusCloud Gateway to the Schwörer fresh-air heater via a shielded RS-485 cable, observing correct A, B, and GND terminal assignments.
Set the Modbus slave address on the fresh-air heater to match the address configured in the ModbusCloud template.
Configure the gateway serial port to 19200 baud, odd parity (parity setting 1), and 8 data bits.
Import the Schwörer fresh-air heater template from the ModbusCloud library into your gateway project.
Verify communication by reading the operating mode and current air level registers on the ModbusCloud dashboard.
If room temperature feedback is needed, confirm that register 900 is configured as a write register supplying the measured room temperature to the heater.
Things to watch for
Communication fails after wiring. What should I check first?
Verify that the baud rate is set to 19200 and parity is set to odd (1). A mismatch in parity is the most common cause of failed communication with this unit.
Can I read and write the same register?
Yes. Registers 100, 101, 230, 231, 232, 932, and 948 are dual-purpose. The template handles both read and write operations on these registers.
What is register 900 used for?
Register 900 is write-only. It sends the current room temperature measurement to the heater so the unit can regulate its output. You need an external temperature sensor value written to this register.
How do I know when the filter needs replacement?
The template reads the filter dirty status flag and the remaining filter time register. Set up a ModbusCloud alert on the filter dirty flag to receive a notification automatically.
