Overview
The Smartfox Pro Charger (also supplied as the i-CHARGE CION) is an AC EV wallbox designed to integrate with the Smartfox energy management ecosystem for PV-surplus charging and dynamic load management. Over Modbus RTU via RS-485, this template reads the charger operating status and the current charging authorisation state, and writes the enable flag and maximum current setpoint to control active sessions. Connecting these registers to the ModbusCloud Gateway lets installers monitor wallbox state and enforce current limits from a single cloud portal without proprietary software.
Use cases
- Monitor the charger status register to detect plug-in events and session state changes across multiple sites.
- Track the enabled register to verify that surplus-based charging authorisation toggles correctly during PV production windows.
- Alert when the status register shows a fault code so on-site intervention can be dispatched before the next charging session.
- Compare the maxcurrent setpoint against grid import readings to confirm load management commands were accepted.
