Stiebel Eltron LWA/LWZ (SG Ready)
Stiebel Eltron
Overview
The Stiebel Eltron LWA/LWZ is a compact air-to-water heat pump that combines heating, domestic hot water, ventilation, and cooling in a single unit for residential new builds and retrofits. This template communicates over Modbus TCP via the Stiebel Eltron Internet Service Gateway (ISG) and covers the SG Ready interface: reading the active operating state from the getmode register and writing the setmode_a enable flag and setmode_b input to shift the heat pump between frost-protection, normal, and forced operating modes. Installers can use this to align heat pump demand with PV generation or grid tariff signals in the ModbusCloud portal.
Use cases
- Monitor the active SG Ready operating state to verify correct mode transitions during PV surplus periods.
- Alert on unexpected reversion to frost-protection mode (state 1) outside scheduled low-tariff windows.
- Track temperature readings over time to detect sensor faults or abnormal heat pump behaviour.
