Ampere Ampere.StoragePro (pv)
The Ampere.StoragePro is a hybrid solar inverter with integrated battery storage, sold by Energiekonzepte Deutschland and built on the SAJ H2 Series platform. It supports on-grid and off-grid operation, combining MPPT solar input with battery charge and discharge management. This Modbus TCP template reads two PV-side registers from the H2 Series Hybrid Solar Inverter: instantaneous generation power and cumulative energy yield. Connecting via the ModbusCloud Gateway gives installers a live view of solar production without requiring cloud access through the proprietary Ampere.IQ system.

Use cases
- Monitor real-time PV generation power to verify that the Ampere.StoragePro is producing as expected after commissioning.
- Track cumulative PV energy yield over weeks and months to validate actual versus projected generation figures.
- Alert on a sustained drop in power during daylight hours to detect shading, soiling, or a tripped MPPT tracker.
- Compare daily energy totals across multiple Ampere.StoragePro installations to identify underperforming sites.
- Report monthly PV yield to building owners or asset managers directly from the ModbusCloud portal dashboard.
Installation
Ensure Modbus TCP is active on the H2 Series Hybrid Solar Inverter: access the inverter's communication or network settings, confirm the Modbus TCP service is enabled on port 502, and note the assigned unit ID (commonly 1 or 2).
Connect the ModbusCloud Gateway to the same local network as the Ampere.StoragePro inverter, either via a LAN port on the inverter or a shared switch, and confirm the Gateway can reach the inverter IP address.
In the ModbusCloud portal, add a new device, import the Ampere.StoragePro (pv) template, enter the inverter's IP address, port 502, and the correct Modbus unit ID.
Spot-check the power register (address 16549) in the portal's live register view during daylight hours to confirm a non-zero positive value, indicating successful communication.
Things to watch for
The portal shows zero for power even during daylight. Why?
Verify the inverter is actively generating by checking its local display or app. If generation is confirmed, the unit ID is the most common culprit: the Ampere.StoragePro defaults to unit ID 1 for the Ampere.IQ box connection, but the inverter itself may respond on ID 2. Try both values in the portal device settings.
Power values appear but seem far too high or too low. What is wrong?
Register 16549 is a signed 16-bit integer. If your Modbus client applies an incorrect scaling factor or interprets the value as unsigned, the reading will be wrong. Confirm no additional scaling is configured in your template assignment, and check that the data type is set to int16 rather than uint16.
The Gateway connects but then drops the inverter periodically. What causes this?
The Ampere.StoragePro shares its Modbus TCP server with the Ampere.IQ energy management box. If the IQ box polls the inverter simultaneously, connection conflicts can cause timeouts. Reduce the ModbusCloud Gateway polling interval and, where possible, limit concurrent Modbus clients on the inverter.
Energy register 16581 reads a value that never resets. Is this cumulative or daily?
Address 16581 is a 32-bit unsigned cumulative counter representing total lifetime PV energy since the inverter was commissioned. It does not reset daily. To calculate daily or monthly yield, record delta values over time using the ModbusCloud portal's historical data feature.
