Axitec AXIhycon 12-15H (battery)

Installation

1. 1Enable Modbus RTU on the AXIhycon 12-15H by navigating to the communication or Modbus section in the inverter menu and confirming baud rate 9600, 8N1, no parity.
2. 2Connect the RS485 A and B terminals of the inverter COM port to the ModbusCloud Gateway RS485 interface, observing correct A-to-A and B-to-B polarity; terminate the bus with a 120-ohm resistor if the Gateway is the last device.
3. 3In the ModbusCloud portal, add the Gateway, import the Axitec AXIhycon 12-15H (battery) template, and assign the correct Modbus unit ID matching the inverter address configured in its menu.
4. 4Spot-check the soc register (address 33139) in the live data view and compare the reading to the inverter display to confirm communication is working correctly.

Things to watch for

SOC reads 0 or a nonsensical value. What is wrong?

Register 33139 returns a uint16 where 100 equals 100%. If your integration applies an additional scaling factor, the value will appear inflated or deflated. Confirm no extra divisor is set in the portal channel config. Also verify the inverter is awake and the battery is connected, as the register returns 0 when no battery is detected.

Power register shows only positive values. Why is direction missing?

Battery power at address 33149 is a signed 32-bit value spanning two consecutive 16-bit registers. Reading only the first word (33149) gives an unsigned partial result. Ensure your Modbus read fetches both registers as a uint32 pair and interprets the combined value as signed. Use register 33135 (power_mul_b) to cross-check charge/discharge direction independently.

Gateway connects but no data appears after importing the template.

Confirm the RS485 wiring polarity: A to A, B to B. A swapped pair causes framing errors with no visible response. Also check that the baud rate on the inverter matches 9600 and the unit ID configured in the portal matches the slave address set in the inverter communication menu. Add 120-ohm termination at each end of long bus runs.

Is it safe to write to the batterymode registers at any time?

Exercise caution: writing to batterymode_a (43024, Battery Reserve SOC) or batterymode_b (43110, storage control mode) directly overrides inverter settings including grid charging permission and reserve SOC. Sending out-of-range or rapid successive writes can cause the inverter to enter an unexpected operating mode. Always verify the intended value, test during low-load periods, and consult the Solis/Axitec communication protocol documentation before automating writes.
