Axitec AXIhycon 12-15H (pv)

Installation

1. 1Enable Modbus RTU on the AXIhycon 12-15H by navigating to the communication or Modbus section in the inverter's settings menu and confirming the baud rate is set to 9600, 8N1.
2. 2Wire the RS485 connection from the inverter's COM port to the ModbusCloud Gateway: connect RS485A (Pin 5, blue/white) to the Gateway's A terminal and RS485B (Pin 4, blue) to the B terminal.
3. 3In the ModbusCloud portal, add a new gateway, import the Axitec AXIhycon 12-15H (pv) template, and assign the correct Modbus unit ID matching the address configured on the inverter.
4. 4Spot-check both registers in the portal's live data view during daylight: the power register should show a positive watt value, and the energy register should show a non-zero kilowatt-hour total.

Things to watch for

Why does the power register always read zero at midday?

Register 33057 returns total DC PV power as a uint32 scaled in watts. If readings are stuck at zero, confirm the inverter is actively producing (check the inverter display) and that the Modbus unit ID in the portal matches the address set on the inverter. A mismatch causes the device to ignore all requests silently.

The Gateway connects but both registers return no data. What should I check?

First verify RS485 polarity: A and B lines must not be swapped. The AXIhycon uses Pin 5 (blue/white) for RS485A and Pin 4 (blue) for RS485B. Also confirm the baud rate is 9600 on both the inverter and the Gateway. A termination resistor of 120 ohm across A and B at the Gateway end can resolve noise issues on longer cable runs.

The energy register value looks implausibly large. Is the scaling wrong?

Register 33029 is a uint32 and reports cumulative energy in whole kilowatt-hours with a scaling factor of 1 kWh per unit. No additional division is needed. If the value still looks wrong, check whether the inverter has been reset or replaced, as the lifetime counter resets to zero on a factory reset.

Can I use this template on multiple inverters on the same RS485 bus?

Yes, but each AXIhycon unit must have a unique Modbus address configured in its settings. Add one template instance per inverter in the portal, each with its own unit ID. Place a 120 ohm termination resistor across A and B at the physical end of the RS485 chain to prevent reflections causing read errors.
