Installation

1. 1Connect the ModbusCloud gateway (MCG or MLP series) to the same local network as the Windhager boiler with Infinity Plus LAN interface.
2. 2Ensure the InfoWIN Touch display is updated to Modbus TCP software version V3.1.0 or higher, and that the BioWIN2 firmware is V5.00 or higher.
3. 3Enable Modbus TCP on the Windhager boiler using the InfoWINtouch software and note the IP address assigned to the boiler.
4. 4Import the Windhager Pellet Boiler template from the ModbusCloud template library and assign it to the gateway.
5. 5Configure the IP address and Modbus TCP port in the ModbusCloud gateway settings to match the boiler network configuration.
6. 6Verify that all readings, such as boiler temperature and buffer tank levels, appear correctly on the ModbusCloud dashboard.

Things to watch for

Which Windhager models are compatible with this Modbus TCP template?

The template works with BioWIN2 Deluxe and BioWIN2 Touch models running firmware V5.00 or higher on the Infinity Plus platform. It is not compatible with MES+, MES Infinity, or Infinity-TA systems.

How do I enable Modbus TCP on my Windhager boiler?

All Windhager devices with Infinity Plus and LAN capability can be updated to Modbus TCP free of charge. BIOWIN2T units from August 2024 can self-update. Older units from April 2023 require Windhager customer service to perform the update.

What data types and scaling are used in the register map?

Register values use int16 and uint16 data types. Temperatures are expressed in degrees Celsius. Time values are expressed in hours or minutes.

The gateway connects but readings show zero or incorrect values. What should I check?

Confirm the InfoWIN Touch is running V3.1.0 or higher and the BioWIN2 firmware is V5.00 or higher. Also verify that the correct IP address and TCP port are configured in the ModbusCloud gateway settings.
