If a device is not in the library yet, we build the template for free as soon as we have the register data.

Number of installations (optional)

Use cases

  • Monitor CO2 levels and airflow rates on a live dashboard to verify adequate ventilation in each zone.
  • Create an alert when CO2 concentration exceeds the Max PPM threshold for more than 15 minutes.
  • Remotely adjust Q Min and Q Max airflow setpoints to match seasonal occupancy patterns.
  • Log supply and exhaust temperatures to verify heat recovery efficiency over time.
  • Set up notifications when exhaust humidity rises above a defined limit, indicating potential moisture problems.
  • Compare fan speed and pressure data across multiple Brink Flair units in a multi-dwelling project.

Installation

  1. Connect the ModbusCloud Gateway to the Brink Flair unit via the RS-485 terminals on the UWA2-B or UWA2-E Modbus interface module.

  2. Configure the Modbus RTU settings on the gateway to 19200 baud, even parity, and set the correct slave address matching the unit.

  3. On the Brink Flair unit, ensure register 8000 is set to 2 to enable CO2-based flow control, and verify register 8002 is configured for flow control mode.

  4. Set the position switch on the ventilation unit to position 1 so that CO2 regulation is active.

  5. Import the Brink Flair template in the ModbusCloud portal and assign it to the connected gateway.

  6. Verify live data appears on the dashboard by checking that airflow, temperature, and CO2 readings update correctly.

Things to watch for

CO2-based airflow control is not responding. What should I check?

Verify that register 8000 is set to 2 and the physical position switch on the unit is set to position 1. CO2 control does not operate when the switch is at position 0 or the fan symbol (absent mode).

What baud rate and parity settings does the Brink Flair require?

The Brink Flair uses 19200 baud with even parity (parity setting 1). Ensure these match exactly on your ModbusCloud gateway, as mismatched settings will prevent communication.

Can I read and write Q Min, Q Max, and PPM thresholds?

Yes. Registers 6001 (Q Min), 6003 (Q Max), 6151 (Min PPM), and 6152 (Max PPM) are all readable and writable. Changes take effect immediately on the unit.

Which Modbus interface module do I need on the Brink Flair?

You need the Brink UWA2-B or UWA2-E Modbus interface module installed on the ventilation unit. Refer to the corresponding Brink Modbus manual for wiring and addressing details.
