Installation

1. 1Connect the ModbusCloud gateway (MCG or MLP series) to the same local network as the KNV Greenline IO7 controller, ensuring TCP connectivity between both devices.
2. 2Verify that Modbus TCP is enabled on the IO7 controller and note its IP address and port number.
3. 3In the ModbusCloud portal, add a new device and select the KNV Greenline Heatpump template from the library.
4. 4Enter the IP address and Modbus TCP port of the IO7 controller in the gateway configuration.
5. 5Confirm that live data appears on the dashboard by checking outside temperature and heat pump status readings.
6. 6Test write functionality by adjusting a room temperature setpoint from the ModbusCloud interface and verifying the change on the local controller.

Things to watch for

Can I use the KNV F-series or S-series template for my Greenline heat pump?

No. The register maps differ significantly between the Greenline, F-series, and S-series. Using the wrong template will result in incorrect or missing data. Always select the Greenline-specific template.

How is the total heat quantity register structured?

Total heat quantity at address 46 is a uint32 value that spans two consecutive Modbus registers. The template already handles this correctly, so no manual configuration is needed.

My gateway cannot connect to the IO7 controller over Modbus TCP. What should I check?

Verify that Modbus TCP is enabled in the IO7 controller settings. Confirm that the gateway and the controller are on the same network or VLAN. Double-check the IP address and port number configured in the ModbusCloud portal.

Is the KNV Greenline the same as a Nibe Greenline?

No. The KNV Greenline with IO7 controller is an older proprietary product from KNV. It is not an original Nibe product, and its register layout is unique.
