Overview

This template reads operational values from Kostal solar inverters via an RS485 Modbus RTU connection at 19200 baud. It enables remote monitoring of inverter data through the ModbusCloud platform, giving installers insight into PV system performance without being on site.

Installation

1Connect the ModbusCloud gateway (MCG or MLP series) to the RS485 terminals on the Kostal inverter using a twisted pair cable with correct A and B polarity.
2Set the baud rate on the Kostal inverter to 19200 and note the configured Modbus slave address.
3Import the Kostal Inverter template in the ModbusCloud platform and assign the correct slave address to match the inverter configuration.
4Ensure the RS485 bus is properly terminated if the gateway is at the end of the bus, using a 120 ohm termination resistor.
5Power on the gateway and verify in the ModbusCloud dashboard that data is being received from the Kostal inverter.
