Installation

Connect the RS-485 terminals of the meter to the RS-485 port of the ModbusCloud Gateway and terminate both bus ends with 120 to 150 ohm.
In programming mode 1 on the meter, check the Modbus address (default 5) and the baud rate (default 9600, no parity).
In ModbusCloud, add a Modbus device with the same address and serial settings and import this template.
Check that the phase voltages and the total active energy match the values on the meter display.

Things to watch for

The meter does not answer. What should I check?

Check the address and baud rate in programming mode 1; the factory setting is address 5 at 9600 baud with no parity and 1 stop bit. Swap A and B if needed and make sure the bus is terminated at both ends.

Why are there integer and float versions of the same value?

The meter offers each value twice: as a scaled integer and as a 32-bit float. Both give the same result. Use the float registers for simple dashboards and the integer registers when you need the full resolution of the energy counters.

Can I reset the energy counters?

The total and tariff counters are MID billing values and cannot be reset. Only the partial energy meters can be started, stopped and reset over Modbus, which leaves the billing values untouched.

What should I know before writing settings over Modbus?

A new address, baud rate, parity or stop bit setting breaks the connection until the device in ModbusCloud uses the same values, so change one setting at a time. Partial meters are controlled with one command word, for example 0x0D01 starts all of them. Billing counters are not affected.
