Solax Solax X3 Hybrid G2 Modbus TCP template

Solax X3 Hybrid G2

Monitors Solax X3 Hybrid G2 inverter and battery values via Modbus TCP

This template connects to a Solax X3 Hybrid G2 three-phase inverter with battery storage via Modbus TCP. It reads 48 registers covering grid, PV, battery, and EPS parameters. All registers are read-only, providing voltages, currents, power, energy totals, temperatures, faults, and battery state of charge.

If a device is not in the library yet, we build the template for free as soon as we have the register data.

Number of installations (optional)

Use cases

  • Monitor real-time PV production from both string inputs and track daily and total energy yield.
  • Display battery state of charge and power flow on a live dashboard for the end customer.
  • Create an alert when inverter, manager, or charger fault registers indicate an error condition.
  • Track grid feed-in energy and consumed energy over time to optimise self-consumption ratios.
  • Generate periodic energy reports comparing PV generation, battery cycling, and grid exchange.
  • Detect abnormal grid voltage or frequency deviations across all three phases.

Installation

  1. Enable Modbus TCP on the Solax X3 Hybrid G2 inverter through its local web interface or installer menu and note the IP address and port.

  2. Connect the ModbusCloud Gateway to the same local network as the inverter using an Ethernet cable.

  3. In the ModbusCloud platform, add a new device and import the Solax X3 Hybrid G2 template from the template library.

  4. Enter the inverter IP address, Modbus TCP port (typically 502), and the correct unit ID in the device connection settings.

  5. Verify that register values such as grid voltage, PV power, and battery SOC appear correctly on the live data view.

  6. Configure dashboards, alerts, or energy reports based on the available registers to suit your monitoring needs.

Things to watch for

Which port and unit ID should I use for the Modbus TCP connection?

The default Modbus TCP port on Solax inverters is typically 502. The unit ID is usually 1, but verify this in the inverter settings or installer documentation.

Why do energy counters like Feed In Energy or Energy Total show incorrect values?

These registers are uint32 values spanning two consecutive addresses. The template handles this automatically. If values still look wrong, check that the byte order (big-endian) matches the gateway configuration.

The gateway cannot connect to the inverter over Modbus TCP. What should I check?

Confirm that Modbus TCP is enabled in the inverter settings. Ensure both the gateway and inverter are on the same subnet. Check that no firewall or router rule is blocking port 502.

Can I use this template to control the inverter or change battery charge settings?

No. All 48 registers in this template are read-only. The template is designed for monitoring only and does not include any write commands.
