Port 502 connects but all register reads return an error.

The device returns a Modbus exception code 1 (illegal function) if the register address falls outside the supported range or if function code 3 is used on an address that expects a different code. Confirm the addresses in the template exactly match the firmware version on your unit, as early Avocado Pro firmware revisions shipped with a slightly different register map.

The gateway connects but power and energy values read as zero.

The Avocado Pro reports grid power as a signed int32 spanning two consecutive 16-bit registers. If your polling tool reads only a single register, the result will be zero or garbage. Ensure the ModbusCloud Gateway uses the int32 type from the template and that byte order is big-endian, which is the standard for this device family.

Phase voltage registers return values that seem ten times too high or too low.

The voltages_a, voltages_b, and voltages_c registers use int16 and report voltage in a scaled integer format. If the displayed value appears off by a factor, check whether your portal is applying an additional scaling factor. Trust the raw register value and confirm against a known AC measurement at the installation site.

The device IP changes after a power cut and the gateway loses connection.

The Avocado Pro obtains its IP via DHCP and has no documented static-IP setting in its web interface. Set a DHCP reservation in your router using the device's MAC address, or place the ModbusCloud Gateway on the same subnet and update the device IP in the portal whenever it changes.
