Voltage and current readings look ten times too high. Why?

Registers 15 to 20 use a scale factor of 10 in the Victron register list, meaning the raw value must be divided by 10 to obtain the actual voltage or current. Confirm your client or dashboard applies this scaling before displaying values.

All registers return an error or no data appears after connection.

The most common cause is a wrong unit ID. The VE.Bus port on a Victron GX device defaults to unit ID 246. Verify the correct unit ID under Settings, Services, Modbus TCP on the GX device, and also check that Modbus TCP is enabled and that port 502 is not blocked by a firewall between the ModbusCloud Gateway and the GX device.

The energy counters reset to zero unexpectedly. Is this normal?

Yes. Victron documents that the energy counters from the Multi or Quattro are volatile: they reset to zero when the inverter is switched off and also when the GX device reboots. Do not rely on these registers for long-term energy accounting without persisting values externally.

Registers 74 to 92 return valid data but have no unit. What is the scale?

The input register list intentionally leaves the unit field empty for the energy counter registers. Cross-reference the official Victron CCGX Modbus TCP register list Excel file from the Victron technical information page to confirm the scaling and unit applicable to your firmware version before using these values in billing or reporting.
