Installation

1. 1Install the Alpha Innotec Modbus Split module on the heat pump according to the manufacturer's instructions.
2. 2Connect the Modbus Split module to your ModbusCloud gateway (MCG or MLP series) using a standard Ethernet cable for Modbus TCP communication.
3. 3Configure the Modbus TCP IP address and port on the Modbus Split module, and ensure the gateway and module are on the same network segment.
4. 4Import the Alpha Innotec Heating & Cooling Split template in the ModbusCloud platform and assign it to the correct gateway.
5. 5Verify that temperature readings (BT1, BT2, BT3, BT7, BT10, BT11, BT50) appear correctly on the dashboard after import.
6. 6Test a control command such as Allow Heating or Hot Water Mode to confirm write access is functioning.

Things to watch for

Do I need additional hardware to enable Modbus TCP on the Alpha Innotec heat pump?

Yes, a dedicated Modbus Split module from Alpha Innotec is required. The heat pump does not support Modbus TCP natively without this module.

Why are some register values returning zero or not updating?

Alpha Innotec has made changes to its product series, so register maps may differ between firmware versions. Verify the register documentation for your specific model and firmware. The template may be revised in the future to address these differences.

What IP address and port should I configure for Modbus TCP?

The IP address is set on the Modbus Split module. The default Modbus TCP port is 502. Ensure the module and your ModbusCloud gateway are on the same subnet and that no firewall blocks port 502.

Can I use this template for Alpha Innotec monoblock models?

This template is designed for the Heating & Cooling Split series. Monoblock units may use different registers or a different communication module. Check the Alpha Innotec documentation before applying this template to other models.
