Installation

1. 1Connect the Alpha Innotec heat pump to the local network via its built-in Ethernet port on the Luxtronik 2.1 controller.
2. 2Activate the Smart Home Interface in the Luxtronik 2.1 settings menu, following pages 45 to 47 of the official manual (83055400pUK_Lux_21_Teil_2.pdf).
3. 3Assign a static IP address to the heat pump or create a DHCP reservation so the address does not change.
4. 4Connect your ModbusCloud gateway (MCG or MLP series) to the same local network and ensure it can reach the heat pump's IP address on the Modbus TCP port.
5. 5Import the Alpha Innotec Heating and Cooling LUX 2.1 SHI template in the ModbusCloud portal and enter the heat pump's IP address.
6. 6Verify communication by checking that live values for RBE temperature and power consumption appear on the ModbusCloud dashboard.

Things to watch for

Do I need an external Modbus RTU to TCP converter for this heat pump?

No. The Luxtronik 2.1 controller has a built-in Ethernet port and supports Modbus TCP natively through the Smart Home Interface. No additional converter is required.

The gateway cannot connect to the heat pump. What should I check?

Verify that the Smart Home Interface is activated in the Luxtronik 2.1 controller (manual pages 45 to 47). Confirm the heat pump has a valid IP address and that no firewall or VLAN is blocking traffic between the gateway and the heat pump.

Which Alpha Innotec models are supported by this template?

All models equipped with the Luxtronik 2.1 controller are supported. This includes the Hybrox, LWAV, LWA, LWP, Paros, LWCV, LWV, SWCV, WZSV, SW, and SWC series.

Can I write control values such as heating mode while the heat pump is running?

Yes. The Smart Home Interface allows writing to control registers during operation. Changes to heating mode, DHW level, or power limitation take effect immediately on the controller.
