If a device is not in the library yet, we build the template for free as soon as we have the register data.
Use cases
- Monitor flow and return temperatures on a live dashboard to verify heat pump performance.
- Adjust zone room temperature setpoints remotely when a customer requests a comfort change.
- Create an alert when the error priority register changes to detect heat pump faults within minutes.
- Track outside temperature and water pressure over time to identify seasonal trends and leaks.
- Force summer or cooling mode remotely at the start of the season without visiting the site.
- Fine-tune the heating curve slope and control strategy from the cloud after commissioning.
Installation
Install the GTW-08 addon module inside the DeDietrich wall cabinet and connect it to the Diematic Evolution controller following DeDietrich instructions.
Wire the Modbus RTU bus (A, B, GND) from the GTW-08 module to the RS-485 port on your ModbusCloud Gateway.
Set the Modbus slave address on the GTW-08 module and confirm the baud rate is 9600, matching the template defaults.
Add a 120 ohm termination resistor at the end of the RS-485 bus if the gateway is the last device on the line.
In the ModbusCloud platform, import the DeDietrich Diematic Evolution template and assign it to the correct gateway and slave address.
Verify that live readings such as flow temperature and appliance status appear on the dashboard before leaving the site.
Things to watch for
Do I need the GTW-08 module to use this template?
Yes. The Diematic Evolution does not expose Modbus RTU natively. The GTW-08 addon module must be installed in the wall cabinet to enable Modbus communication.
What baud rate should I configure on the gateway?
The default baud rate is 9600 with 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, and no parity. Make sure both the GTW-08 and the ModbusCloud gateway use the same serial settings.
Can I write setpoints and modes, or is the template read-only?
Many registers in this template are both readable and writable. You can change zone modes, room setpoints, hot water temperature targets, and heating curve parameters directly from the cloud.
I see no data after wiring. What should I check?
Confirm the Modbus slave address on the GTW-08 matches the address configured in ModbusCloud. Also verify the A and B wires are not swapped and that the RS-485 bus is properly terminated.
