Electric curtain drive A-OK RS-485
Controls A-OK RS-485 electric curtain drives with open, close, and stop commands.
Template for A-OK RS-485 electric curtain and shutter drives. Sends raw serial commands over RS-485 to open, close, and stop motors. Supports individual motor addressing by ID and channel bitmask with XOR checksum validation.

If a device is not in the library yet, we build the template for free as soon as we have the register data.
Use cases
- Send open, close, and stop commands to A-OK curtain drives remotely from the ModbusCloud dashboard.
- Schedule automated curtain or shutter movements based on time of day or external triggers.
- Control multiple A-OK drives on different channels using individual motor IDs from a single gateway.
- Use group addressing (ID 0x00) to open or close all curtain drives on a channel simultaneously.
- Monitor command execution logs to verify that curtain drives respond to issued commands.
Installation
Connect the A-OK RS-485 curtain drive to the ModbusCloud Gateway using a twisted-pair RS-485 cable, observing correct A and B terminal polarity.
Configure the RS-485 serial port on the gateway to 2400 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, and no parity to match the A-OK drive settings.
Use the A-OK configuration application to assign a unique motor ID and channel to each drive before connecting to the gateway.
Import the A-OK RS-485 curtain drive template from the ModbusCloud template library into your project.
Set the motor ID and channel bitmask in the template to match the values programmed into each physical drive.
Test the open, close, and stop commands from the ModbusCloud dashboard to confirm each drive responds correctly.
Things to watch for
Why does my A-OK drive not respond to commands from the gateway?
Verify that the baud rate is set to 2400 on both the gateway and the drive. Also confirm that the motor ID and channel bitmask in the template match the values programmed into the motor using the A-OK configuration app.
How is the checksum calculated for A-OK commands?
The checksum is the XOR of the ID, channel low byte, channel high byte, command byte, and data byte. For example, for ID=1, channel 1, open command: 0x01 XOR 0x01 XOR 0x00 XOR 0x0A XOR 0xDD = 0xD7. The template handles this automatically.
Can I control multiple drives at once?
Yes. Set the motor ID to 0x00 for group control. All drives on the specified channel will respond to the command. Each drive must be pre-programmed to listen on that channel.
This device does not use standard Modbus registers. Will it work with ModbusCloud?
The template sends raw byte sequences over RS-485 rather than standard Modbus register reads or writes. The command structure is pre-configured in the template, so no manual byte construction is needed.
