Enervent eAir

Ventilation unit controller that reports air temperatures, humidity, fan speeds and alarms and sets modes.

The Enervent eAir is the control system of Enervent heat recovery ventilation units that runs the fans, heat recovery, heating and cooling in homes and commercial buildings. This Modbus RTU template reads air temperatures, humidity, fan speeds, heat recovery efficiency, status and alarms, and lets you set modes, setpoints and timer programs from ModbusCloud.

Send your device list

If a device is not in the library yet, we build the template for free as soon as we have the register data.

Number of installations (optional)

Use cases

  • Show fresh, supply and extract air temperature, humidity and fan speeds of an Enervent unit on one ModbusCloud dashboard.
  • Get an email when the status or alarm registers change or extract humidity rises above a threshold you set.
  • Track heat recovery efficiency and air temperatures in the 365-day history to check the heat exchanger over a season.
  • Switch a unit to away mode or start a manual boost remotely from the portal.
  • Change the supply air setpoint remotely when occupants report it is too cold or too warm.
  • Check the number of alarms and the software version before a service visit.

Installation

  1. Check the Modbus id, speed and parity of the eAir unit; the default line settings are 19200 baud, 8 data bits, no parity.

  2. Connect RS485 A and B of the MD board to the RS485 port of the ModbusCloud Gateway, with termination at both ends of the bus.

  3. In ModbusCloud, add a Modbus device with the same id, speed and parity, and import this template.

  4. Check that Fresh Air and Supply Air show plausible temperatures and that the fan speeds follow the unit.

Things to watch for

The unit does not answer. What should I check?

Compare the Modbus id, speed (9600, 19200 or 115200) and parity (none or even) with the eAir settings. Swap A and B and add a termination resistor at both ends of the bus. The id can be between 1 and 100.

Why are some temperatures 0 or far off?

Not every unit has every sensor. Optional sensors such as TE07, X6, X7 or room transmitters read 0 or an implausible value when they are not connected. Temperatures are sent multiplied by 10; the template divides by 10.

Some registers only exist on newer software. Which ones?

The analog output voltages, AI9 to AI16, the DI9 pulse counter and the digital input and output bitmaps (780 to 798) need MD software 1.18 or later. On older software these registers return an error.

How do I switch modes through Modbus?

Modes are coils: write 1 to Away Mode, Manual Boost or Stop to switch them on and 0 to switch them off. Never write registers the Enervent list marks as reserved. Writing registers is off per Gateway until it is enabled on request; write only values you understand.
