Exor Energy meter 3-phase

Reads 3-phase energy metering data from Exor meters via Modbus RTU.

This template reads 3-phase energy metering data from Exor energy meters via Modbus RTU. It covers per-phase and total values for voltage, current, active/reactive/apparent power, and dual-tariff energy counters. No control registers are included.

If a device is not in the library yet, we build the template for free as soon as we have the register data.

Number of installations (optional)

Use cases

  • Monitor per-phase voltage and current on a live dashboard to detect load imbalance across phases.
  • Track active energy consumption with dual-tariff counters (T1/T2) for time-of-use billing verification.
  • Create an alert when total apparent power exceeds a defined threshold to prevent breaker trips.
  • Generate monthly energy reports for customers across multiple metered sites from one platform.
  • Compare import and export energy to evaluate the performance of on-site generation systems.

Installation

  1. Wire the RS-485 A and B terminals of the Exor energy meter to the corresponding terminals on the ModbusCloud Gateway.

  2. Set the Modbus slave address on the Exor meter using its front-panel buttons or DIP switches, and note the address for gateway configuration.

  3. Confirm the Exor meter is configured for 19200 baud rate and odd parity (these are the default settings used by this template).

  4. In the ModbusCloud platform, add a new device, select the Exor Energy meter 3-phase template, and enter the correct Modbus slave address.

  5. Verify that voltage and current readings appear on the dashboard and match expected values at the installation site.

Things to watch for

I see zero or missing values for some reactive energy registers. What is wrong?

Some reactive energy and reactive power per-phase registers use uint16 format instead of float32. Ensure your gateway is reading these registers with the correct data type. The template handles this automatically, but manual register additions may need adjustment.

The gateway cannot communicate with the Exor meter. What should I check?

Verify that the RS-485 wiring polarity (A and B) is correct and that a termination resistor is installed if the cable run is long. Confirm the baud rate is set to 19200 and parity is set to odd on both the meter and the gateway.

Can I use this template for a single-phase Exor meter?

This template is designed for 3-phase Exor meters. Using it with a single-phase model may result in empty or invalid readings on L2 and L3 registers. Use a single-phase specific template if available.

What are the T1 and T2 tariff counters?

T1 and T2 represent two separate energy tariff registers, typically used for peak and off-peak billing periods. The Exor meter increments the appropriate counter based on a tariff switching input or schedule configured on the meter.
