Installation

1. 1Connect the Modbus gateway (MCG or MLP series) to the Solis 4G inverter via the Ethernet port used for Modbus TCP communication.
2. 2Ensure Modbus TCP is enabled on the Solis inverter by checking the communication settings in the inverter menu or via the commissioning tool.
3. 3Assign a unique Modbus slave address to each inverter if multiple units share the same network segment.
4. 4Import the Solis 4G Inverter template into your ModbusCloud project and configure the IP address and port of the inverter.
5. 5Verify that Active Power (address 3004) and Total Energy (address 3008) return plausible uint32 values spanning two registers each.
6. 6Test the writable Power Limitation register (address 3051) by setting a value and confirming the change on the Power Limit read register (address 3049).

Things to watch for

Active Power and Total Energy show incorrect or very large values. What is wrong?

These registers use uint32 format and span two consecutive Modbus registers each. Make sure your register configuration reads both registers (e.g., 3004 and 3005 for Active Power) and interprets them as a 32-bit unsigned integer.

I cannot write to the Power Limitation register at address 3051. What should I check?

Some Solis firmware versions require Modbus write access to be explicitly enabled in the inverter settings. Check the inverter communication configuration and ensure write access is not locked. Also confirm you are using the correct function code for writing (typically FC06 or FC16).

Is this template compatible with Solis 4G models other than the 3P15K?

The register map is expected to be the same across the Solis 4G family, but you should verify the register addresses against the Modbus documentation for your specific model before commissioning.

What baud rate or TCP port should I use for the Modbus TCP connection?

Solis inverters typically use TCP port 502 for Modbus TCP. Confirm the port setting in the inverter network configuration. Baud rate settings apply only to Modbus RTU and are not relevant for TCP connections.
