Hoymiles DTU-PRO Datalogger

Reads solar production data from Hoymiles DTU-PRO dataloggers via Modbus TCP.

This template connects to Hoymiles DTU-PRO and DTU-PRO-S dataloggers via Modbus TCP. It reads grid voltage, grid frequency, PV power, temperature, and daily production values. No write or control registers are included.

Use cases

  • Monitor real-time PV power output and grid frequency from Hoymiles microinverters on a live dashboard.
  • Log daily solar production values to generate weekly or monthly energy reports for customers.
  • Create an alert when PV power drops to zero during daylight hours to detect potential system faults.
  • Track inverter temperature readings to identify overheating conditions on rooftop installations.
  • Compare grid voltage trends over time to assess power quality at the point of connection.

Installation

  1. Connect the ModbusCloud Gateway to the same local network as the Hoymiles DTU-PRO datalogger.

  2. Ensure Modbus TCP is enabled on the DTU-PRO by checking the datalogger settings via the Hoymiles configuration interface.

  3. Note the IP address of the DTU-PRO on your local network and configure it as the target device in the ModbusCloud gateway.

  4. Import the Hoymiles DTU-PRO template from the ModbusCloud template library and assign it to the gateway.

  5. Verify that data is being received by checking the live readings for grid voltage, PV power, and today production in the ModbusCloud dashboard.

Things to watch for

Which Modbus TCP port does the DTU-PRO use?

The DTU-PRO typically uses the standard Modbus TCP port 502. Confirm this in the DTU-PRO network settings if connections fail.

Why are all register values showing as zero?

The DTU-PRO only reports data when microinverters are actively producing. At night or during shutdown, all PV-related values will read zero. Also verify that the DTU-PRO has successfully paired with the connected microinverters.

How are the uint32 register values structured?

All registers are uint32 and each occupies two consecutive Modbus addresses starting at address 4108. The template handles the correct byte and word order automatically.

Can I monitor individual microinverter data with this template?

This template reads the aggregated data exposed by the DTU-PRO datalogger. Individual microinverter-level data may require additional register mappings not covered by this template.
