Free Modbus template: Hytek Pool Hygiene | ModbusCloud
Modbus RTU
Hytek Pool Hygiene
Hytek
Monitors pH, REDOX, and chlorine values from Hytek pool hygiene control units via Modbus RTU.
Overview
This template reads pH, REDOX, and chlorine values from Hytek pool hygiene control units (EMEC WDPHRH-PER) via Modbus RTU. It provides raw sensor values, scaling factors, flow status, and canister empty alerts for remote pool water quality monitoring.
Key readings
pH raw value
pH scaling factor
Chlorine raw value
Chlorine scaling factor
Chlorine canister empty
pH minus canister empty
Use cases
Monitor pH and chlorine levels on a live dashboard to verify pool water quality remotely.
Create an alert when the chlorine canister or pH minus canister is reported as empty.
Log pH and REDOX values over time to generate water quality trend reports for pool operators.
Detect flow status changes to identify pump failures or filter blockages in the pool circulation system.
Combine pool hygiene data with heat pump and energy monitoring templates for a complete pool plant room overview.
Installation
1Install the Hytek BT Modbus module on the EMEC WDPHRH-PER control unit and activate Modbus communication in the device settings.
2Wire the RS-485 A and B terminals from the Hytek Modbus module to the corresponding RS-485 port on your ModbusCloud gateway (MCG or MLP series).
3Set the Modbus RTU baud rate on the gateway to 38400 to match the Hytek unit configuration.
4Assign a unique Modbus slave address on the Hytek unit and enter the same address in the ModbusCloud gateway configuration.
5Import the Hytek Pool Hygiene template in the ModbusCloud platform and link it to the configured gateway connection.
6Verify that pH raw value, chlorine raw value, and canister status registers are returning data on the ModbusCloud dashboard.
Things to watch for
01
Why are the pH and chlorine readings showing very large or very small numbers?
The template reads raw sensor values. You must apply the scaling factors from registers 3 (pH) and 7 (chlorine) to convert raw values into actual pH and mg/l readings. Configure calculated fields in ModbusCloud using these scaling factors.
02
The gateway cannot communicate with the Hytek unit. What should I check?
Confirm that Modbus is activated on the Hytek control unit. Check that the baud rate is set to 38400 on both the gateway and the Hytek Modbus module. Verify RS-485 wiring polarity (A to A, B to B) and ensure proper line termination.
03
Which Modbus slave address should I use for the Hytek unit?
The default slave address depends on your Hytek configuration. Check the device settings or the Hytek integration documentation. Make sure the address set on the device matches the address configured in the ModbusCloud gateway.
04
Is the Hytek BT Modbus module included with the control unit?
The Modbus module is typically a separate accessory. Contact your Hytek distributor or visit hytek.at to confirm compatibility and order the module if it is not already installed.
