MENNEKES AMTRON® Xtra & Premium
Controls MENNEKES AMTRON EV charging stations with solar-optimized charging
This template connects MENNEKES AMTRON Xtra and AMTRON Premium EV charging stations to ModbusCloud via Modbus TCP. It provides live power readings, charging session statistics, remote start and pause, current limitation, and solar-optimized charging control.

If a device is not in the library yet, we build the template for free as soon as we have the register data.
Use cases
- Monitor live EV charging power and session energy on a cloud dashboard for your customer.
- Create an alert when the AMTRON reports an error code or goes offline unexpectedly.
- Implement solar-optimized charging by linking PV surplus data to the current limitation control.
- Track daily and per-session charged energy to generate monthly usage reports for billing.
- Remotely start or pause charging sessions from the ModbusCloud platform without being on site.
- Verify wallbox configuration parameters such as operation mode and RFID authorization status after installation.
Installation
Update the MENNEKES AMTRON firmware to version 1.13 or higher to enable Modbus TCP communication.
Connect the ModbusCloud Gateway to the same local network as the AMTRON wallbox.
Note the IP address of the AMTRON and configure it in the ModbusCloud gateway connection settings with the correct Modbus TCP port.
Import the MENNEKES AMTRON Xtra and Premium template from the ModbusCloud template library into your project.
Replace the PV Power value in the template with your actual solar production data source if you plan to use solar-optimized charging.
Verify communication by checking that live values such as actual power consumption and AMTRON state appear on the ModbusCloud dashboard.
Things to watch for
I cannot read any registers from the AMTRON. What should I check?
Ensure the AMTRON firmware is updated to version 1.13 or higher. Modbus TCP is not available on older firmware versions. Also verify that the gateway and the wallbox are on the same network and the correct IP address is configured.
Charged Energy and Actual Power Consumption show incorrect values. Why?
These registers (781 and 783) are uint32 values spanning two registers each. Make sure the template is reading them as 32-bit unsigned integers. Incorrect data type or wrong register count will produce wrong readings.
Can I use RFID authorization readback with the AMTRON Xtra?
No. RFID authorization status is only available on AMTRON Premium models. The Xtra series does not support this feature.
Does using this template disable the MENNEKES Charge App?
No. The Charge App for Android or iOS continues to work alongside Modbus TCP control. Both interfaces can be used in parallel.
