Installation

1. 1Wire the ModbusCloud gateway (MCG or MLP series) RS-485 output to the Cel-Mar ADA-4040PC1 Modbus ASCII to RTU converter.
2. 2Connect the Cel-Mar ADA-4040PC1 converter output to the Olimpia Splendid B0686 electronics board using the appropriate RS-485 cabling.
3. 3Configure the baud rate to 9600 and parity to odd on the gateway, the converter, and the B0686 electronics to ensure all devices match.
4. 4Set the correct Modbus device address on the Olimpia Splendid unit, ensuring it does not conflict with other devices on the bus.
5. 5Import the Olimpia Splendid template in the ModbusCloud platform and assign it to the configured gateway and device address.
6. 6Verify communication by checking that status registers and ambient temperature values appear correctly on the ModbusCloud dashboard.

Things to watch for

Why does the gateway fail to communicate with the Olimpia Splendid unit directly over RS-485?

The B0686 electronics use Modbus ASCII, not Modbus RTU. You must install a Cel-Mar ADA-4040PC1 converter between the gateway and the B0686 board to translate between the two protocols.

What baud rate and parity settings should I use?

Set all devices on the bus to 9600 baud with odd parity. This includes the ModbusCloud gateway, the Cel-Mar converter, and the B0686 electronics.

Which Olimpia Splendid models are supported by this template?

The template supports models B0372, B0375, and B0685. The B0686 is the electronics communication board used by these units, not a standalone model.

Can I control multiple Olimpia Splendid units on the same RS-485 bus?

Yes, as long as each unit has a unique Modbus device address. Ensure all units share the same baud rate and parity settings on the bus.
