The power register reads zero even when the inverter is generating. Why?

Address 1083 reports grid exchange as seen by the inverter's internal meter, not PV generation. If the site is fully self-consuming, the grid value will be near zero. Check whether the meter is wired and enabled correctly in the inverter's communication settings, and confirm the RS485 polarity (A/B) has not been swapped.

The Gateway connects but returns timeout errors on every poll. What now?

Modbus RTU on these inverters supports only one active connection at a time. If another device such as a datalogger dongle or a home automation system is already polling the same RS485 bus, responses will collide. Disconnect competing masters, or route all polling through a single Modbus master such as the ModbusCloud Gateway.

The energy counter value looks implausibly large or wraps unexpectedly. What is happening?

The energy register at address 1087 is an unsigned 32-bit integer. Confirm your portal is decoding it as uint32, not int32. A signed decode will flip the value to a large negative number once the counter exceeds 2,147,483,647. If the raw reading looks correct but the unit is unexpected, check whether the manufacturer applies a scaling factor in your specific firmware version.

I cannot read any registers: the inverter replies with exception code 0x02. What does that mean?

Exception code 0x02 means the requested address is out of range for this device or firmware version. Confirm you are using function code 4 (Read Input Registers) as specified in this template. Also verify the slave unit ID matches the address set in the inverter's Modbus advanced settings, as a mismatch causes the same error on some firmware builds.
