aeroVent aeroVent Modbus RTU template

aeroVent

Monitors and controls aeroVent recuperator ventilation units via Modbus RTU.

This template connects to aeroVent Reversus and Flat series recuperators via Modbus RTU. It reads temperatures, humidity, CO2 levels, fan speeds, and fault indicators. It also allows control of fan speed, operating mode, party mode, fireplace mode, and schedule settings.

If a device is not in the library yet, we build the template for free as soon as we have the register data.

Number of installations (optional)

Use cases

  • Monitor supply and exhaust temperatures and CO2 levels on a live dashboard for each ventilation zone.
  • Create an alert when a fault indicator is triggered so you can respond before the customer notices a problem.
  • Adjust fan speed gear and activate party mode remotely when the building occupant requests higher ventilation.
  • Track humidity trends over time to verify that the recuperator maintains healthy indoor air quality.
  • Switch between seasonal settings from the cloud dashboard to adapt ventilation strategy for summer and winter.
  • Log bypass status and fan speeds to document system performance during commissioning or maintenance visits.

Installation

  1. Wire the Modbus RTU connection (A and B data lines plus GND) from the ModbusCloud gateway to the COM3 port on the aeroVent recuperator.

  2. Configure the gateway serial port to match the aeroVent default parameters: 115200 baud, 1 stop bit, no parity.

  3. Set a unique Modbus slave address on the aeroVent unit if multiple devices share the same RTU bus.

  4. Import the aeroVent template from the ModbusCloud template library and assign it to the correct gateway and slave address.

  5. Verify communication by checking that live sensor readings such as supply temperature and fan speed appear on the ModbusCloud dashboard.

  6. Confirm the board revision year of your aeroVent unit, as main boards from 2025 and newer may use a different register map than 2024 and older boards.

Things to watch for

Why am I not getting any response from the aeroVent unit?

Modbus RTU is only available on COM3 of the aeroVent recuperator. Make sure you have connected A, B, and GND to COM3 specifically, not to another port on the board.

The baud rate of 115200 seems unusually high for Modbus RTU. Is this correct?

Yes, 115200 baud with 1 stop bit and no parity is the factory default for aeroVent recuperators. Ensure your Modbus gateway supports this baud rate on its serial interface.

The register names appear in Polish. How do I know which register does what?

The aeroVent firmware uses Polish register naming. The ModbusCloud template already maps these registers to English labels, so you do not need to translate them manually.

I have a unit with a 2025 main board and some registers do not match. What should I do?

Main boards manufactured from 2025 onward may have a different register layout compared to 2024 and older boards. Check the aeroVent documentation for your board revision and verify that the template version matches your hardware.
