S+S Regeltechnik HYGRASGARD xx-Modbus-T3
Humidity and temperature sensor with dew point, absolute humidity and enthalpy over Modbus.
The S+S Regeltechnik HYGRASGARD xx-Modbus-T3 is a calibratable sensor that measures humidity and temperature in rooms, ducts or outdoors. This Modbus RTU template reads temperature, relative humidity, dew point, absolute humidity and enthalpy, and lets you switch units and set the display from ModbusCloud.

If a device is not in the library yet, we build the template for free as soon as we have the register data.
Use cases
- Show room or duct humidity, temperature and dew point in one dashboard next to the air handling unit.
- Send an email when the relative humidity stays above a limit, for example in archives, museums or cleanrooms.
- Keep a year of humidity history to show that indoor climate requirements were met.
- Watch the dew point next to surface temperatures to warn about condensation risk.
- Show a short status text on the sensor display from an automation.
Installation
Set the Modbus address on DIP switch A and baud rate, parity and stop bits on DIP switch B.
Connect Modbus A and B to the RS485 port of the ModbusCloud Gateway and switch on termination (DIP B6) only on the last device.
In ModbusCloud, add a Modbus device with the same address, baud rate and parity, and import this template.
Check that temperature and relative humidity show plausible values.
Things to watch for
The sensor does not answer. What should I check?
Compare DIP switch B with the settings in ModbusCloud: baud rate, parity and stop bits must match, and 8N1 mode overrides parity. Check that the address on DIP switch A is between 1 and 247 and that A and B are not swapped. The red LED lights up on faulty telegrams.
Why does the temperature read 10 times too high?
The sensor sends tenths. The template already divides by 10; if you built your own registers, use a scale of 0.1.
Values suddenly look like Fahrenheit. What happened?
The System Of Units coil was set to imperial. All values and the display then switch to °F, gr/ft³, gr/lb and Btu/lb. Write 0 to the coil to go back to SI.
I write a value to the display but nothing shows. Why?
Display Value Selection must be 10 for the freely configurable display, and the 7-segment value only shows when it is positive. In standard mode only characters I to Q of the dot matrix are free. The display registers can only be written, not read back.
