SunSpec Model 711 — DER Frequency Droop
SunSpec
Overview
SunSpec Model 711 is a standardized Modbus TCP information model defining the Distributed Energy Resource (DER) Frequency Droop (Freq-Watt) function, as specified in IEEE 1547-2018. It is not a physical device but a cross-manufacturer register interface implemented by IEEE 1547-compliant inverters, battery storage systems, and other grid-tied DERs. The template reads and controls the droop enable flag, reversion timer state, and the three scale factors governing deadband, gain, and response time. Connecting via Modbus TCP, your ModbusCloud Gateway can verify whether frequency droop is active and track reversion timer countdown across any compliant device.
Use cases
- Verify that the frequency droop function is enabled on newly commissioned IEEE 1547-2018 inverters before energizing the grid connection.
- Track the reversion timer countdown to confirm temporary droop parameter overrides expire within the scheduled window.
- Alert when the adopt-control result register reports a failed status after a droop settings update.
