SunSpec Model 714 — DER DC Measurement
SunSpec
Overview
SunSpec Model 714 is the DER DC Measurement information model defined by the SunSpec Alliance, used to read DC-side data from distributed energy resources such as solar inverters, battery storage systems, and EV charging equipment. The SunSpec Model 714 — DER DC Measurement template reads total DC current, total DC power, cumulative injected and absorbed energy, a per-port alarm bitmask, and the full set of SunSpec scale factors that correctly decode all raw integer readings. Connecting any SunSpec-certified DER via Modbus TCP, your ModbusCloud Gateway delivers a vendor-neutral DC measurement stream without custom scripting.
Use cases
- Monitor total DC power and current continuously to detect inverter clipping or underperformance against irradiance data.
- Track cumulative DC energy injected versus absorbed to calculate daily net DC yield across battery charge cycles.
- Alert on non-zero per-port alarm bitmask values to catch DC port faults before they affect AC output.
