Number of installations (optional)

Use cases

  • Monitor real-time heating and DHW temperatures on a cloud dashboard for remote customer support.
  • Create an alert when a critical error code appears on the AC Heating heat pump.
  • Adjust DHW min and max temperature setpoints remotely to optimise energy consumption.
  • Track heat pump power and system power over time to analyse seasonal efficiency.
  • Enable or disable heating circuits from the dashboard based on occupancy schedules.
  • Receive a notification when the outside temperature drops below a threshold so you can verify setpoints.

Installation

  1. Verify that the xCC controller runs firmware 5.5.2 or higher for old indoor unit designs, or 8.2.2 or higher for new indoor unit designs.

  2. Connect the ModbusCloud Gateway to the same local IP network as the xCC controller.

  3. Note the IP address and Modbus unit ID configured on the xCC controller for use during template setup.

  4. Import the AC Heating xCC template in the ModbusCloud portal and assign the correct IP address and unit ID.

  5. Confirm that status registers are returning valid temperature and power readings on the live data view.

  6. Configure dashboards, alerts, and control widgets in ModbusCloud to match the installation requirements.

Things to watch for

Which firmware version does the xCC controller need?

For the older indoor unit design, firmware 5.5.2 or higher is required. For the newer indoor unit design, firmware 8.2.2 or higher is required. Check the xCC display or web interface to confirm the running version.

Do I need RS-485 wiring between the gateway and the heat pump?

No. The AC Heating xCC system communicates over Modbus TCP, so a standard Ethernet network connection between the gateway and the xCC controller is sufficient.

Registers return zero or no data after importing the template. What should I check?

Verify that the IP address and Modbus unit ID in the template match the xCC controller settings. Also confirm the xCC firmware meets the minimum version requirement for your indoor unit type.

Can I control DHW circulation and sanitation temperature remotely?

Yes. The template includes write registers for DHW circulation control, sanitation temperature, and DHW min/max setpoints. Ensure the corresponding functions are enabled on the xCC controller.
