Ads-tec StoraXe (battery)
The Ads-tec StoraXe is a modular lithium-ion battery storage system designed for commercial and industrial applications, ranging from 100 kW up to multi-MW installations. The StoraXe Master Controller exposes operating data over Modbus TCP, allowing your ModbusCloud Gateway to read instantaneous AC power (with sign convention for charge and discharge), three-phase voltages and currents, cumulative energy throughput, and battery state of charge. This template gives facility managers and system integrators a complete real-time view of StoraXe performance without any manual configuration.

Use cases
- Monitor battery state of charge continuously to verify the StoraXe is cycling within the expected daily operating window.
- Track instantaneous AC power to confirm the system switches correctly between charge and discharge modes.
- Compare per-phase voltages and currents across phases A, B, and C to detect imbalance at the grid connection point.
- Alert on cumulative energy deviating from projected throughput to identify premature capacity degradation.
- Report three-phase current readings alongside power to verify inverter loading stays within rated limits.
Installation
Confirm the StoraXe Master Controller (SRC1xxx) is running firmware version 2.0.4 or higher, then verify Modbus TCP is active under the communication or network settings of the controller.
Connect the StoraXe Master Controller Ethernet port to the same LAN segment as the ModbusCloud Gateway using a standard RJ45 cable, ensuring both devices share a routable subnet.
In the ModbusCloud portal, add a new device, select the Ads-tec StoraXe (battery) template, enter the Master Controller IP address, set the Modbus unit ID to the value configured on the controller (default is typically 1), and save.
Spot-check the connection by reading the soc register (address 125) and the power register (address 1) in the portal live data view, and confirm the values match the readings shown on the StoraXe local display or web interface.
Things to watch for
The gateway connects but all register values read as zero or error.
The StoraXe Master Controller Modbus TCP interface is only active when the system is in an operational state (not off or standby). Confirm the system state on the local controller display. Also verify the unit ID in the portal matches the slave address configured in the StoraXe communication settings, as a mismatch returns no valid data.
The energy register at address 114 returns an implausibly large value. Why?
The energy register is a 32-bit unsigned cumulative counter. If your Modbus client reads only the lower 16 bits, the value will be incorrect. Ensure your polling configuration reads both registers as a single uint32 block using function code 4. The StoraXe uses big-endian (high byte first) byte order, so the high word must be read at address 114 and the low word at 115.
The power register shows negative values when I expect positive discharge readings.
This is correct behavior per the Ads-tec StoraXe interface specification: a negative power value indicates the system is charging (power flowing from grid into the battery), while a positive value indicates discharge. Check your energy management system logic or dashboard formula to ensure the sign convention is applied correctly before triggering alerts.
Phase current readings on currents_a, currents_b, or currents_c look inconsistent across phases.
Verify the three-phase wiring at the StoraXe AC connection point. Current imbalance can result from an unequal load distribution on the building LV network, but persistent imbalance exceeding expected tolerances may indicate a wiring fault. Also confirm the register block (addresses 9 to 11) is polled in a single contiguous read request to avoid stale interleaved values.
