Why do voltage and current registers return values that seem 1000x too large?

The DS100 delivers voltage and current as scaled 32-bit integers. Voltage registers use a factor of 1000 (millivolts to volts) and current registers also use a factor of 1000 (milliamperes to amperes). Divide the raw register value by 1000 in your portal channel scaling to obtain the correct SI unit reading.

The gateway connects but all register values read as zero or garbage. What now?

Confirm the Modbus slave ID on the DS100 matches the unit ID set in the portal. The DS100 uses Signed 32-bit Big Endian (INT32, big-endian word order). If your gateway or adapter defaults to little-endian word order, swap the high and low words. Also verify baud rate and parity match on both ends: 9600 baud, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit is the factory default.

Energy register at address 280 shows a plausible number but the unit is unclear. How is it scaled?

The DS100 energy register returns a value in hundredths of kilowatt-hours. A raw value of 374 means 3.74 kWh. Apply a scaling divisor of 100 in the ModbusCloud portal channel configuration to read the value directly in kWh.

RS485 bus with multiple DS100 meters: some meters stop responding intermittently. Why?

Each DS100 on the same RS485 bus must have a unique slave address configured in its menu. Duplicate addresses cause bus collisions and silent failures. Also ensure only one termination resistor is present at each physical end of the bus cable. Check that the baud rate is identical on all meters: mixing 9600 and 19200 on the same bus will prevent communication.
