Why does the power register always read zero?

The WS100 returns zero for any register it does not recognise rather than an error code. This usually means the slave ID in the portal does not match the ID set on the meter (default is 1), or the RS485 A/B wires are swapped. Confirm the slave ID on the meter display, correct the unit ID in the portal, and check wiring polarity.

The gateway reports a connection error with code 0xE40. What is this?

Error 0xE40 is returned by the WS100 when the Modbus slave ID in the request does not match the meter's configured ID. Open the device settings in the portal and set the unit ID to match the value shown in the meter's communication menu. The default factory ID is 1.

Power values look correct but energy counter does not increment. Why?

The WS100 updates its internal measurement once per second. If the polling interval in the portal is shorter than the meter's update cycle, successive reads may return the same value momentarily. Set the polling interval to at least 2 seconds. Also confirm the register address and data type are int32 as configured in the template.

RS485 communication works initially but drops out intermittently. What should I check?

Intermittent dropouts on RS485 are most often caused by missing bus termination or an excessively long cable. Add a 120-ohm termination resistor at each physical end of the RS485 bus. Also confirm that the baud rate on the meter matches the Gateway configuration; the WS100 supports 9600, 19200, 38400, and 115200 baud.
