Bosch Control 8000 Bosch Heating Modbus TCP template

Bosch Heating

Controls Bosch Control 8000 heating systems via Modbus TCP.

This template connects Bosch Control 8000 heating systems to ModbusCloud via Modbus TCP. It reads temperatures, pump states, and valve positions, and writes operation modes and temperature setpoints for heating circuits and warm water.

Use cases

  • Monitor outside temperature, flow temperature, and room temperature per heating circuit on a live cloud dashboard.
  • Adjust warm water target temperature remotely without visiting the site when customer requirements change.
  • Create an alert when flow temperature drops below the configured setpoint for more than 10 minutes.
  • Track mixing valve positions and pump states across multiple heating circuits to detect faults early.
  • Switch heating circuit operation modes between Auto and Manual remotely during seasonal transitions.
  • Log runtime data and thermal output over time to verify annual energy targets for hybrid heating systems.

Installation

  1. Ensure the Bosch Control 8000 has Modbus TCP enabled and is connected to the local network via Ethernet.

  2. Note the IP address assigned to the Bosch Control 8000 and confirm it is reachable from the ModbusCloud gateway.

  3. Connect the ModbusCloud Gateway to the same local network as the Bosch Control 8000.

  4. In the ModbusCloud portal, add a new device and select the Bosch Control 8000 template from the library.

  5. Enter the IP address and Modbus TCP port of the Bosch Control 8000 in the device configuration screen.

  6. Verify the software version of your Bosch Control 8000 and check that the datapoints in the template match your version according to the Bosch Modbus TCP documentation v2.0.

Things to watch for

Can I use Modbus RTU to connect to the Bosch Control 8000?

No. The Modbus RTU interface on the Bosch Control 8000 is reserved for internal Bosch purposes and is not available for external use. Only Modbus TCP is supported for third-party integration.

Some datapoints return no values or unexpected readings. What should I check?

The available datapoints depend on the Bosch Control software version. Consult the Bosch document "Information on controlling the Control 8000 control device series via Modbus TCP/IP" version 2.0 to verify which registers apply to your specific firmware version.

Which Bosch heating products are compatible with this template?

The template supports Bosch Control 8000, FM-SI, FM-MM, FM-MW, FM-CM, FM-AM, Uni Condens 8000, Condens 7000, Unimat, and Control 8313.

What is the default Modbus TCP port for the Bosch Control 8000?

The standard Modbus TCP port is 502. Confirm this in the network settings of your Bosch Control 8000 before configuring the gateway.
