Reads and controls Daikin VRV and Sky Air indoor units on the DIII network, groups 3-00 to 4-15.
The Daikin EKMBDXB is a Modbus interface that connects the indoor units of a VRV or Sky Air system on the DIII network to a building management system. This Modbus RTU template reads room temperature, setpoint, mode and error codes of DIII groups 3-00 to 4-15 and lets you switch units, change setpoints and lock remote controllers from ModbusCloud.

Use cases

Installation
Connect the interface to F1 and F2 of the DIII network and power it with 220 to 240 V AC.
Connect RS485 to the ModbusCloud Gateway and set termination with SS2 (120 ohm) on the last device of the bus.
Set the Modbus address (1 to 15), speed and parity with the DIP switches and power cycle the interface.
In ModbusCloud, add a Modbus device with the same address, 9600 baud, 8 data bits, even parity and 1 stop bit, and import this template.
Check that Interface Status reads 1 (ready), then compare Room Temperature of one group with its remote controller.
Things to watch for
The interface does not answer at all. What should I check?
The DIP switches are only read at power up, so power cycle the interface after a change. Address all off means Modbus is disabled. Check speed and parity against the device settings in ModbusCloud, swap A and B if needed and set termination on the last device only.
All values are 0 after power up. Is something broken?
After power up the interface first scans the DIII network. Until Interface Status bit 0 reads 1 (ready), all registers stay 0. This can take several minutes. Groups without a unit stay 0 as well, so delete the registers of groups you do not use.
What should I keep in mind when I write a command?
The command registers do not show the real state; they only hold what was written. Copy the current value from the status register first, change only the bits you need, and check the status register afterwards. For fan and flap the fan control flag must be 6. Daikin allows at most 7000 commands per indoor unit per year, so do not write on every reading.
Forced off and remote controller lock do not work.
Both only work when no other central DIII controller is on the network, such as an intelligent Touch Manager. Interface Status bit 1 shows whether one is detected. After a power failure of the interface, forced off and locks must be written again.
