HomeWizard Wi-Fi kWh meter 3-phase
Reads HomeWizard Wi-Fi kWh meter 3-phase energy data via local API
This template reads energy data from the HomeWizard Wi-Fi kWh Meter 3-Phase over Modbus TCP. It requires enabling the Local API in the HomeWizard Energy app before data can be retrieved. Use it to monitor three-phase energy consumption from a cloud dashboard.

Use cases
- Monitor real-time three-phase energy consumption on a live ModbusCloud dashboard for your customer.
- Log cumulative energy import and export values to generate monthly consumption reports.
- Create an alert when power consumption on any single phase exceeds a defined threshold.
- Compare energy usage across three phases to detect load imbalance in a distribution board.
- Combine kWh meter data with solar inverter readings to calculate net energy usage on one dashboard.
Installation
Open the HomeWizard Energy app, go to Settings, then Meters, select your kWh Meter 3-Phase, and enable the Local API.
Ensure the ModbusCloud Gateway is connected to the same local network as the HomeWizard meter.
Note the IP address assigned to the HomeWizard meter, which can be found in the HomeWizard Energy app or your router's client list.
Import the HomeWizard Wi-Fi kWh Meter 3-Phase template in the ModbusCloud platform and enter the meter's IP address as the Modbus TCP target.
Verify the connection by checking that live readings appear on the ModbusCloud dashboard after the template is activated.
Things to watch for
The gateway cannot connect to the HomeWizard meter. What should I check?
Confirm that the Local API is enabled in the HomeWizard Energy app. Also verify that the meter and the ModbusCloud gateway are on the same local network and subnet. Check that no firewall or VLAN isolation is blocking traffic on the API port.
Do I need to set a specific Modbus slave address or port number?
The HomeWizard meter uses its local HTTP-based API, which the template addresses by IP. Refer to the HomeWizard advanced API documentation for the exact port. No traditional Modbus slave ID configuration is required.
Does the meter need a firmware update to support the Local API?
Some older firmware versions may not expose the Local API option. Update the meter firmware through the HomeWizard Energy app to the latest version before attempting to enable the API.
Can I use this template for a single-phase HomeWizard kWh meter?
This template is designed for the three-phase model (HomeWizard kWh Meter 3-Fase). A separate template exists for the single-phase variant. Using the wrong template may result in incorrect or missing readings.
