Use cases

• Monitor real-time charging power and state of charge on a live dashboard for site operators.

Installation

1. 1Activate the complex control mode and Modbus TCP port on the EnerCharge DC-Supercharger through the station's local configuration interface.
2. 2Connect the ModbusCloud gateway (MCG or MLP series) to the same local network as the charging station and ensure IP connectivity.
3. 3Note the IP address and Modbus TCP port of the EnerCharge DC-Supercharger and enter these in the ModbusCloud gateway configuration.
4. 4Import the EnerCharge DC-Supercharger template from the ModbusCloud template library and assign it to the configured connection.
5. 5Verify communication by checking that live values such as Charging State and Actual Total Power appear in the ModbusCloud dashboard.

Things to watch for

The gateway cannot connect to the EnerCharge DC-Supercharger. What should I check?

Verify that the complex control mode and the Modbus TCP port are both enabled on the charging station. Also confirm that the gateway and charger are on the same network and that no firewall is blocking the configured TCP port.

Power limit values do not seem to take effect on the charger.

Ensure that the complex control mode is active. In standard operating mode, the charger may ignore external setpoints. Also verify you are writing the correct data format and unit expected by the charger.

SOC and Resttime registers show zero even though a vehicle is charging.

Some values are only populated once a charging session is actively underway and the vehicle provides SOC data. Not all vehicles transmit SOC information to the charger, which may result in zero values.

What happens if the ModbusCloud gateway loses connection to the charger?

The EnerCharge DC-Supercharger can fall back to the configured Emergency Powerlimit value. Make sure this value is set appropriately so the station continues to operate safely without active control.
