Why do power_mul_a and power_mul_b return unexpected values?

Register 33149 holds the 32-bit battery power value and register 33135 holds the charge or discharge direction. Reading 33149 alone as a uint32 without combining it with the direction register from 33135 will produce unsigned values that appear incorrect during discharge. Ensure your portal template processes both registers together to interpret signed battery power correctly.

The gateway connects but soc always reads zero. What is wrong?

A zero SOC reading usually means the RS485 bus has a conflict. Solis inverters do not share the COM port bus reliably with a second Modbus master running simultaneously. If a SolisCloud datalogger is also plugged into the COM port, it acts as a second master and will block responses. Disconnect the datalogger or use a dedicated RS485 splitter designed for multi-master access.

Writes to batterymode_a or batterymode_b are not taking effect. Why?

Confirm the inverter firmware supports the target register: register 43024 (battery reserve mode SOC) was added in protocol revision V002B000D01A. Earlier firmware may ignore writes silently. Check the inverter HMI version and update if needed before retrying the write from the ModbusCloud portal.

Is it safe to write to the battery mode registers frequently?

Write registers on Solis S Series inverters are stored to internal flash memory. Writing a few times per day is acceptable, but writing continuously at high frequency, for example every few seconds, risks wearing out the flash storage over time. Limit mode-change writes to deliberate operator actions or scheduled events, not continuous polling loops.
