Installation

1. 1Enable Modbus RTU on the Solis S Series inverter by navigating to Advanced Settings on the inverter display, entering passcode 0010, and confirming Modbus communication is active under the communication or Modbus section.
2. 2Connect the ModbusCloud Gateway to the inverter COM port using a shielded two-core cable wired to the RS485 A and B terminals; set baud rate to 9600, no parity, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit to match the inverter default.
3. 3In the ModbusCloud portal, add a new device, import the Ginlong Solis Storage Inverter (S Series) grid template, and assign the unit ID that matches the slave address configured on the inverter (default is 1).
4. 4Verify the connection by spot-checking the power register (address 33263) in the portal live view: with the inverter on, the value should reflect current grid power in watts and change when loads are switched.

Things to watch for

All register values read as zero or return errors. What is wrong?

The inverter only responds on the COM port when it is fully powered up and past its wake-up period. Confirm the LCD is active and the inverter is in a running or standby state. Also verify the RS485 A and B wires are not swapped and the baud rate is set to 9600 on both the Gateway and the inverter.

Phase current or power values look unrealistically high. Why?

The ESINV-33000ID register map documents addresses as absolute decimal values with no additional offset. If your polling tool applies a base offset of 1 or 40001, the wrong registers are being read. Confirm the Gateway is querying the exact addresses in the template (for example 33252 for phase A current) with no transformation applied.

The Gateway connects but values stop updating after a few minutes.

The Solis S Series inverter and its data logger share the same RS485 bus. Running both simultaneously can cause bus conflicts, leading to communication timeouts. If a Solis data logger is attached, disconnect it or use an RS485 splitter with bus conflict detection to allow multiple masters to coexist reliably.

Register values changed after a firmware update. Are the addresses still correct?

Ginlong has issued firmware updates (for example version 4B0047) that revise portions of the Modbus register map. The addresses in this template match the documented ESINV-33000ID specification. If readings become inconsistent after a firmware upgrade, confirm the inverter protocol version register (33003) and cross-check with the updated Ginlong communication protocol document for your firmware version.
